Maiden Voyage:
We have completed our maiden voyage in the fiver, and it was
a total success. With Russ, and
experienced camper as my co-pilot I pulled my Solitude to Lake Tawakoni State
park, backed it in to park it, hooked it up, and lived without sewer connection
for three days. If you never had to
limit your water usage for a few days because there is only so much space to
store it you can’t imagine that part of the experience, but it was
interesting.
While we were there we hiked, ate, slept, read, ate, slept,
read ate, etc. It was great. It is a clean, well-kept park. The spaces are well separated and the campers
were considerate. I could not have asked
for more in my first camping experience.
Pam got right into it with the reading, eating, sleeping and (tada)
hiking. She is gonna be a good partner.
Anyway on Sunday they began to forecast lots of rain for
Sunday night and Monday. We decided that
discretion was the better part of valor and came back a day early. But this time my co-pilot was Pam. We hooked ourselves up, took our first shot
at a dump station, and with her navigation and encouragement we made it home
safely. I even backed it in with her on
the telephone giving me directions. It
was not nearly as clean a parking operation here, but it was my driving, not
her direction that caused the problem. I’ll
get better.
Now it is pouring and we are very glad we made the decision
to come back when the roads and our
parking spot were dry. Today we will
clean up from the trip and tomorrow go back to the house. We have a lot to do to get ready to put up
the for sale sign next month.
Until next time these are just some ramblins from an old
Rockin RoVer rocking and rovin on.
Thanks
