2017 In the Rear View  Mirror: If there was ever a momentous year in the lives of two people, this was it.  Not necessarily the best year ever because we've had lots of great years filled with great events.  Not necessarily the biggest change because we had some whoppers in the past.  But in the sense of unexpected life altering, direction changing, out of character, "Where did that come from?", this was it.  On January 1 2016 this whole thing was just a niggle in the back of our minds.  Something we had discussed and looked at casually, but mostly dismissed.  It was something really neat, like a balloon flight across the Atlantic, or a trip to Europe.  One of those things that other people do but not us.  We get up, drink a pot of coffee, work in the yard, watch Fox, go to bed, wake up and repeat.  Maybe not quite that bad, but any adventure, especially travel, was pre-planned, pre-paid, and often pre-empted by something or someone....

Home Sweet Home: Well, we made it.  You might think after all the wonders we have seen, being back in Texas is kind of a let down.  It is not.  From the moment we entered Texas we just knew we were home.  That doesn't mean we are gonna stay, and our travels are over, but just that there is a sense of peace about being where we understand the people, and the government, and the weather and the traffic signs, etc.  It is just home.  Our roots are here, our people are here, our personal history is here.  Can't wait to travel away again so we can come home again.  We plan on being here about two months so we can love on all our kids and friends, do some things on the Fiver, and plan our next adventure.  In two months we will most certainly get what RV'ers call "Hitch Itch" and we will be ready to roll. Last time I posted we were leaving Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.  It was a sight you need to see.  From there we went to Alpine Tx...

It still looks like New Mexico, but its Texas: Its been a month since I up dated this blog.  I am discovering that a month is too long.  So much has happened and we have seen and done so much it will take a short book to review it all.  The good thing is that there was nothing momentous but just a bunch of really great days in our new life. Out of Utah we went south to Williams AZ.  We had a nice place to stay and Williams was a cute town on the Historic Route 66.  You guys are too young to remember, but Route 66 was my generation's road to the promised land.  It went all the way across the country and you could get on it and drive to total freedom. Usually you pictured yourself in a Corvette like the two free spirits in the TV show "Route 66", who just drove from one Route 66 town to the next getting their "kicks on Route 66".  I never actually drove on Route 66 till I was 66 so I missed the whole adventure thing, and experienced the Retirement on...

Goodbye Utah: I know its kind of quick but it's time for an update.  We have been in Utah about two weeks.  In Moab we were very busy, but here in ("here" is really in the middle of no where but we will call it Glendale) Glendale we have slowed down considerably.  Some of that was because we just wanted to slow down for a few days, and we actually had rain (and hail) yesterday.  We decided on a PJ/movie/book day. Now that is not to say we are not  seeing what Utah has to offer.  Moab, Arches National Park, Dead-Horse State Park, and Canyonland National Monument were breath-taking. ( You will notice as you read I have run out of adjectives)  You have seen many of the pictures (not nearly all) we took, and for the millionth time let me reiterate, pictures just don't tell the story completely.  Hoodoos, the name for all those strange shaped towers of rock, are as unique as finger prints. Mom hikes too ! There are thousands upon thousands...

That's it for Colorado: After two months in this extra ordinary state, this morning we move on to Utah.  Our experience in Colorado has been exceptional.  Not just because we are new to this full time game, but because Colorado is exceptional in many ways.  Of course we learned a ton about full timing.  For example  pulling out of a parking spot can be just as tricky as pulling in.   Woops  #@%#@ Or if the weather forecast says it is going to be hot, do not get a 30 amp spot ( You can't run both AC's  at the same time with 30 amps) Juggling micro wave, hot water heater, toaster, and hair dryer with only one AC is a pain in the pa-toot. It was HOT!   But most of all, because of our experiences seeing this "amazing" state created by God just so we could look in awe and wonder, know that He is, and softly say in our hearts thank you Father. After we left Leadville we proceeded to Grand Junction, j...

We aint sittin no more! I know I have been really slacking off on my bloggin.  It easy to do that when there is a flurry ( make that hurricane) of activity going on around you, and believe me there has been.  I have been overwhelmed with all the things we have been doing.  It started as soon as we arrived in Buena Vista.  Claudia, Pam's friend from church, is well known as "the tour director".  There is not much doubt she is hyper to the extreme.  If it wasn't shopping at Canton type events, it was off road Jeeping at the top of the world. Jeeping includes a picknic. A Jeeping Smile from us.  Or having a crowed over to her Fiver for chili and beans.  By the way that's two different events cause she is a Texan and knows they don't go together in the same pot.  Of course when they went shopping, Fred, her husband, and I did man stuff.  We replaced his TV, and convection oven, we went "shopping" at the hardware store, and hiked a...
