What in the world am I thinking?

[Originally written on 1-16-2016]

I have had an idea.  It is a wacky, new, off the wall, couldn’t happen in a million years idea.  After all I’m nearly 70 years old, time to slow down, settle in, sit back and relax.  Wait to die.  Really?  That doesn’t sound too much like me.  I think I prefer going with:  I’m nearly 70 years old, time to change directions rather than slow down, shake things up rather than settle in, step out rather than sit back, get busy rather than relax, and begin a new kind of life rather than just wait to die.
So what’s this crazy idea?  Depends on if you want (A) the “I’m 70 waiting to die” version, or (B) the “I’m 70 waiting to live” version.
 A.  Living like a vagabond in a trailer with no home, without my stuff, moving from trailer park to trailer park till I die.
         B.   Being free to move from opportunity to opportunity to experience life in every imaginable setting, and always sleeping your own bed every night until you are able to say “I really lived.”
Same idea, seen through different eyes.
So where did this crazy idea come from?  I think it happened when I was astounded by the creation of God. .. I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time.   I will never forget having my breath taken away by the first vista of that awesome creation.  Since then I have realized that that the Grand Canyon is just one of an infinite number of God's creations that can and will take my breath away and that I want to see them all.  The idea also grew as I explored this whole new world of people who have chosen to live outside the lines of life’s coloring book.   It can be done.   I learned  that there are tens of thousands of places where you can set up your home, stay a day, a week, month (sometimes for free), enjoy and experience  to your heart’s content and  then move on…. or not.   Many of these places are in, on and near the most beautiful of God’s creation.  It’s not only places to experience, it’s people too. There are multitudes of opportunities to serve others. There are people and places in which to invest my life and experiences while at the same time being able to receive the same investment from others who are anxious to share.  Is that so wacky?
What are the chances?  Of course I recognize this is not a fore ordained outcome.  First I’m not alone in this.  I have a partner, and unless and until we both get on board it “aint gonna happen”.  Hey, I even waffle from time to time.  Knowing all the things that must fall into place before we can even take step one often become daunting.  Then I remember the goal.  Riding the roller coaster of feelings and emotions in me and with my partner is sometimes enough to make me say “just chunk it”.  Then I think of seeing what the Pacific Ocean must look like at sunset while sitting in my lawn chair in my “backyard”.   If there’s a chance, I guess I need to pursue it, because I know if I don’t I’ll end up  always wondering , and there will be  a hole in my life where what might have been will be missing.

Just some ramblings from a Rockin’ RoVer.  Rockin’ and RoVin’ on.
